(2026-09-08) ## Quick answers - How much water does a running toilet waste? A toilet that runs nonstop can send 200 gallons or more down the drain a day. A worn flapper is the usual cause, and it is a five-dollar part. - What does a GFCI outlet actually do? It cuts power in a fraction of a second if current leaks to ground, through water or through you. Kitchens, baths, garages and outdoor outlets need one. - Where is my main water shut-off? Usually where the water line enters the house: a basement wall, a crawlspace, a utility closet or near the water heater. Find it before you need it. - When is a ceiling stain urgent? When it is wet, growing, or the ceiling sags or bulges. Keep people out from under a sagging ceiling. A dry, old stain can wait for a planned repair once the cause is fixed. - How often should I change my furnace filter? Every one to three months for a standard 1-inch filter during heating and cooling season. Thicker 4-inch media filters last six months to a year. ## FAQ - Is the estimate really free? Yes. We come out, look at the problem, and give you a written price before any work starts. There is no charge for the visit and no pressure to book. - How soon can you come out? Most estimate visits happen within three to five business days. If water, power or a lock is involved, tell us on the form and we will try to get there the same or next day. - Do you charge by the hour or by the job? Most repairs are quoted as a fixed price for the job, so you know the number before we start. Small jobs that are hard to scope ahead of time are billed by the hour with a minimum, and we will say so first. - Do I need to be home? For the estimate, yes, so we can walk through the problem together. For the work itself, many customers leave a key or a code, and we send photos when we finish. - What jobs do you not take on? We do not do gas line work, main electrical panel changes, new circuits, structural changes, or full roof replacements. For those we refer you to licensed specialists we trust. - Are you licensed and insured? Yes. Our license number is listed in the footer, and we carry general liability insurance. We are happy to send a certificate before we start. - Do you guarantee your work? Our labor is guaranteed for one year. If something we fixed fails in that time because of our work, we come back and make it right at no charge. Parts carry the manufacturer's warranty. - Do you clean up? Yes. We lay down drop cloths, take our debris with us, and vacuum the work area before we leave. - Can I really do the repairs in your guides myself? Many of them, yes. Each guide says what you will need and has a “stop and call a pro” section. If you get partway in and do not like what you see, stop there and call. - Do I need to sign up to read the guides? No. Every guide and post is free to read with no sign-up. - What do the text updates include? Seasonal reminders (about four to six a year) and, if you choose, appointment updates. Reply STOP to any message to stop, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply. - Do you sell my information? No. We do not sell or share your phone number or email with third parties for their marketing. See our Privacy Policy for the details. ## Pages - [Home](https://advantagehomerepair.com/): Home repair you can count on, from leaks and drafty doors to decks and gutters.
